The Twitter social media was hacked this morning
, impacting thousands of users of the popular microblogging site. The company said it has identified the attack and has now patched it.
The hack of Twitter.com is extra nefarious because the tweets activate without being clicked on — it's enough for Web surfers to move their mouse cursors over them.
According to Mashable, the bug redirects users to third-party websites without their consent.
CNET reports that the security firm Sophos warned users about the Twitter vulnerability in a post early Tuesday.
The hack affects users of the Twitter site, and hasn’t impacted users who use third-party applications, such as Tweetdeck.
